I’m a girl (really, I am) and I must admit that there’s something about the dark, mysterious and brooding guy that really appeals to me. Imagine this scenario…

I’m sitting with my guy friend, we’re watching some random TV show and he turns to me and asks: what is it with girls always liking these brooding guys. Why would you be attracted to a sombre dude?

And he’s right. Logic tells me to stay away from these types but heck, there’s just something about a guy that isn’t an open book (and a tad depressed) that is VERY attractive to most ladies. Just consider the following brooders.

Angel from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer

He’s tortured by his soul and past sins, he lurks in the shadows and he has the tendency to stalk 16-year-olds (he likes watching Buffy). Ho hum, ho hum, HOT!

Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood

Imagine never being able to die. That’d make most people happy but Jack’s character has progressively grown darker on Torchwood. He has secrets… shhhhhhhhhh.

Edward Cullen from Twilight

Is it just me or is this dude a little creepy? Especially during the first movie where he just stares at Bella (Kristen Stewart) A LOT. I’d be calling the cops or asking Jacob (Taylor Lautner) to save me.

Max Evans from Roswell

Max has loved Liz (Shiri Appleby) since they were kids but of course, it’s too dangerous for them to be together (he is an alien after all). The steely gaze, the high cheekbones – goodness, it’s sooooo intense.

Jim Stark from Rebel Without a Cause

Hello! James Dean pretty much invented tortured soul syndrome and c’mon ladies, let’s face it, it’s sexy. Oh, and the leather only makes him look hotter.

Bruce Wayne from Batman

The deep voice, the penchant for black and the need to distance himself from almost everyone. Who knows why it works for him but it does.

Dean Winchester from Supernatural

Sure, his bro his hot too but there’s something irresistible about Dean… as Jim Carrey/The Mask would say: smoookkkiiinnnnn’.

Lindsay from Angel

After this dude’s hand was cut off (by Angel), all bets were off and gosh, he’s sooo much sexier as a rogue runaway than a dodgy-lawyer.
